On October 10, the reporter was informed by Yichang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture that the bureau will boost the construction of high-quality vegetable bases and create ten listed qualified vegetable bases within a year's efforts, aiming to construct a group of vegetable bases that are recognized by local citizens.

　　Yichang government has been focusing on “Vegetable Basket Project” in recent years. Fifteen million yuan have been invested by municipal financial department and enlivened 200 million yuan of social funds, building 50,000 acres suburban high-standard vegetable farms (including 10,000 acres steel greenhouse) and 60 standard vegetable model bases with more over 10,000 acres. Five thousand acres cold-proof and rain –proof vegetable farms have been built in main vegetable producing areas. Test for vegetable soil acidification is in progress. With the reduction of the utilization of pesticide, chemical fertilizer, the labor cost and dehiscent fruit, we meet increase in both quality and quantity of vegetable.

　　In order to effectively promote the transformation of vegetable growing industry into high yield, high quality, high quality and high efficiency, Yichang city will continue to implement the executive chief responsibility system of "vegetable basket" project to ensure the development vegetables and new suitable vegetable species, such as aquatic vegetables, local rare varieties, edible mushrooms, konjak and other high efficiency varieties.
