The historical progress was created by arduous efforts of our forefathers while the new glory of the times now can only be cast by tenacious struggle of our generation. On the morning of October 18th, Beijing witnessed the grand opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China which had attracted worldwide attention. Leaders of Yichang Municipal Party Committee, the standing committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, municipal government and municipal committee of CPPCC gathered at Room 3, one of the meeting room of Yichang Municipal Party Committee, to see the grand opening of the congress on live broadcast, listening attentively to the report made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of CPC Central Committee, which titled Securing a Decisive Victory in Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects and Striving for the Great Success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

　　Those present at Room 3 were Zhang Jiasheng, mayor and deputy secretary of Yichang Municipal Committee of the CPC, and other municipal leaders such as Liu Xuefu, Bao Qingfen, Wang Guobin, Yuan Weidong, Wang Wei, Liu Jianxin, Liu Weiling, Shang Kui, Wu Kangnian, Zhou Qing, Wang Yinghua, Zhou Zhengying, Huang Liming, Tang Chao, Liu Honghu, Xu Wei, Wang Rong, Chen Hechun, Zhang Fa wei. Chen Hua and Ma Hongyan also saw the live broadcast in the village committee of Zhen Nan He, Yu Yang Guan in Wu feng and Municipal Transportation Bureau respectively.

　　On behalf of Zhou Ji, secretary of Yichang Municipal Committee of the CPC and also the representative of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Zhang Jiasheng made a speech at the end of live broadcast. He pointed out that the 19th National Congress of the CPC is an essential congress which marks China’s key period of securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics. He said that the report made by Xi Jinping, the general secretary of CPC Central Committee, is of great foresight, rich thoughts, huge momentum and profound knowledge. His comprehensive and incisive explanation on the thoughts of socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era in particular, is the latest achievement in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the programmatic document that guides the whole Party and people. It has pooled the wisdom of the whole party and reflected the aspirations of public opinion, having great significance for the party to realize the Two Centenary Goals and the Chinese Dream of the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation.

　　Zhang Jiasheng emphasized that Party organizations and Party members and cadres at all levels in Yichang should think and act in accordance with the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC and foster four consciousness, namely ideology, the whole, the core and the line. They are supposed to uphold the authority of the Central Committee, obey the centralized leadership of Central Committee and strengthen willpower concerning politics, discipline, morals, and anti-corruption. Besides, they must further change the view of development, modify the mode of development, and improve the quality of development so as to promote coordinated and healthy development of economics and society in Yichang and secure a better life for the people.

　　Zhang Jiasheng also stressed that studying the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC is the key task of Party organizations and the Party members and cadres at all levels in Yichang. They should initiate the learning boom and conduct learning by leadership being the first, learning in many forms and combining learning with practice, striving to engrave the essence of spirit in people’s hearts and minds. Furthermore, we are expected to advocate the spirit of the 19th national congress of the CPC central committee, its relevant learning activities and actual measures so as to create great atmosphere, making the spirit a household word that enjoys public support. At present, Party members and cadres at all levels are requested to stick to their posts to carry out the spirit of the Congress and spare no efforts to achieve success in their work on all fronts with regard to security and stability, social and economic development.
