On Nov. 18th, Zhang Jiasheng, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Community and Mayor of Yichang, met the delegation led by Stanislaw Tillich, governor of Saxony and former speaker of Bundesrat of Germany.
Zhang Jiasheng warmly welcomed the visit of Stanislaw Tillich and the delegation. After introducing some relevant situations, Zhang Jiasheng said, Yichang is known as the “World’s Hydroelectricity Capital” and “China’s Power Heart” with obvious transportation advantages and abundant industrial base. Yichang is stepping up its efforts to promote green development, propel the transformation and leap-forward development and accelerate the construction of a stronger comprehensive strength of deputy provincial city of Hubei Province, regional central city in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the world hydroelectricity tourist city. With the national “Belt and Road” initiative and the implementation of the “Yangtze River Economic Belt” strategy, Yichang is seizing the opportunity to speed up its development, and consistently improve its economic competitiveness and opening up to the outside world. The developed economy of Saxony is of exemplary significance to Yichang to promote its transformation and upgrading. We hope that both sides will continue to maintain the close economic and trade cooperation, deepen exchanges in various fields and work together for common development.
Stanislaw Tillich and his delegation expressed their gratitude for the hospitality reception by Yichang. He said, this year is the 10th anniversary of the friendly agreement between Saxony and Hubei Province, which marks a new stage of both sides’ cooperation. Yichang is home of the world-renowned Three Gorges Project with beautiful mountains and rivers as well as rich humanistic backgrounds. In particular, the city has a great reputation and its economic and social developments together with people's livelihood are at a high level. Yichang has left a good impression on the delegation. In recent years, Saxony has gradually increased the investment in China, and they are very optimistic about the prospect of cooperation with Yichang. In the future, Saxony will continue to broaden the channels of communication and expect more achievements.
