On December 19th, reporters on the booth of Chexi Family agricultural product cooperation at the 14th Wuhan Agricultural Fair Yichang Exhibition Area, have witnessed an endless stream of crowd coming to taste and purchase Yichang black tea. Chexi Family black tea making a hit in Hubei province was an epitome of the flourishing tea industry in Yichang.

　　In recent years, with the aim of building a tea main production area which is well-known in the world, classic in China and first in Hubei, Yichang government has speeded up the development of tea industry and made great achievements. As the scaleof theindustry expands, around 1200m2 areas from hills to flat places in this city are planted with tea trees, especially in those 9 counties like Wufeng, Yiling and Yidu which have made a large scale of production.

　　With the construction and completion of processing system, Yichang now has a total number of 1106 tea processing factories with a reasonable layout of primary processing factories. Yichang now owns 14 enterprises whose yearly production values reached over 100 million yuan and 64 enterprises over 100 million yuan, with 3 national leading enterprises, 22 provincial leading enterprises, 10 green food certified companies and 5 companies on the list of “the greatest 100 tea companies in China.” So far, Yichang has 18 standard and modern processing demonstration factories (zones) and over 10 consecutive production lines. The machinery equipment and the technology embodied in the tea factories have improved constantly.
