On the evening of the Dec. 28th, the award ceremony of Yichang’s 10 elected persons of the year was solemnly held at the No. 1 Studio in Yichang Broadcast and Television Center. Wang Guobin, member of the Standing Committee of CPC and Propaganda Minister of the city, Shang Kui, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of NPC of the city, and Huang Huining, the Vice Chairman of CPPCC of the city, awarded the elected person.

　　“Yichang’s 10 elected persons of the year” are as follows: blind pianist Li Lin who plays her life with her hands; Deng Yaguang, the anticancer pioneer, who has achieved the early detection of tumor; Deng Aimin, a driver, who proves his professional responsibility with his life; Xiang Changqian who voluntarily serves to promote public good and manage the community; Wu Gang who helps the lost people to find their families; Zhou Minglin’s family who show their filial piety; Liang Zhibo who used to be an aquatic product farmer, but now a self-taught expert; Dangyang County’s warm-hearted citizens who saved an old lady from the Baili River by building a “body ladder”; Xu Rongyao, a famous “story-teller”, who collects the country slangs and makes it more acceptable in court; Zhou Chu, a post-90 young fellow, who has worked as a volunteering teacher in a remote mountain area for 5 years.
