On Jan 3rd, many places in Yichang snowed heavily. The roads of many counties, such as Changyang, Wufeng, Yuan’an, Xingshan, have become icy roads, which poses great threat to road safety. Under such circumstances, the Public Security Department of Yichang City has launched emergency plan promptly and sent more than 4,000 policemen and auxiliary police to work on the sleeting roads, helping passing vehicles install anti-skid chains, reinforcing the management of the snow-covered roads, in order to prevent traffic accidents and ensure smooth and safe traffic.

　　The snow on many roads in the mountainous areas of Changyang reaches 10 centimeters, and on some sections of the roads there is even ice. Therefore, the hidden danger of traffic safety is salient. Since the early morning of Jan. 3rd, the Public Security Bureau of Changyang County has organized policemen, auxiliary police and road leaders to inspect the road, command and guide vehicles to pass safely.

　　In Wufeng County, the Beifengya, Mazongling, and Liujiaao sections of No.325 Provincial Road and Niuzhuangdahuaping on Wuba Highway have all become icy roads. Therefore, the Wufeng Public Security Bureau has launched the terrible weather emergency addressing plan, requiring all policemen to work on roads and help passing vehicles install anti-skid chains in order to ensure safe driving and smooth traffic.

　　In some high mountainous areas of Zigui County, snow has also accumulated on the road. No. 348 Provincial Road allows normal passing, but Huangkou section of Guojiaba on No. 255 Provincial Road is closed. The traffic of the main county roads runs well, and all policemen in all local police stations are assigned to give safety instructions to the passing vehicles on the road.

　　To deal with the bad weather, the Public Security Bureau of Yuan ’an County organizes some policemen to work on the main roads, such as Hedang Road, Baoyi Road and Yiyuan Road, and some other rural roads. Eight checkpoints are set temporarily, and effective measures are adopted to remind drivers to drive safely, which include shining police lights, slow-speed patrolling, and giving warning via loud speakers. Furthermore, the policemen on the roads urge nearly 100 private cars and mini buses to install anti-slid equipment, such as anti-skid chains, to fight against snowy and freezing weather, and ensure safe traffic. The bureau temporally closes the transportation lines to Wangjia, Yanchi, Shijiaoping, Gongyu, Huangzhu, and Xiaoping, and increase the number of policemen to work on main roads, strengthen traffic management and set warning signs in dangerous sections. Six collapsed landslides, trees and other road blocks have been cleaned up.

　　Due to the sleeting weather of Zhenzi, Gaoqiao, Shuiyuesi and some townships in Xingshan County, sections in “Dashuikeng”, “Yandaiya ”, “Jieling” and many other roads are covered with snow or ice. So the Public Security Bureau of Xingshan County assigns policemen to clear the roads and make them safe for driving.

　　For safe driving, the Traffic Detachment of the City Public Security Bureau reminds drivers to know the weather and road conditions of the destination in advance. In sleeting days, they are suggested to drive vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains, triangle wood and other emergency equipment. When driving on a sleeting day, tanks of the trucks easily get frozen and stop working if low-grade fuel is used. To prevent that worse situation, drivers are reminded to use high-grade fuel. Drivers responsible for the transport of passengers, hazardous chemicals should be concerned about the real-time traffic and traffic control information to ensure safe driving.
