Yichang’s Second Session of the Sixth Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) successfully completed its agenda, and concluded in the morning of January 6th. The meeting called on the city’s CPPCC organizations at all levels, the participating units and the CPPCC members, under the leadership of the CPC Yichang Municipal Party Committee, to work with one heart and one mind and forge ahead, striving to create new dimension for Yichang CPPCC in the new era, and making arduous efforts in the construction of the city into a provincial sub-central city, a regional center city in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River and a world-famous hydro-power tourist city as well as a strong and modernized city of socialism.
Seated in the front of the rostrum were Song Wenbao, president of the Municipal CPPCC, and the deputy presidents, Xu Wei, Huang Huining, Wang Rong, Chen Hechun, Ma Hongyan, Tan Yeming and Zhang Fawei, as well as Tan Weiguo, the secretary general.
Also present at the meeting and seated on the rostrum were Zhou Ji, secretary of the CPC Yichang Municipal Party Committee, Zhang Jiasheng, deputy secretary of the CPC Yichang Municipal Party Committee and the mayor of Yichang, Liu Xuefu, secretary of Party Leadership of the NPC Standing Committee and deputy director of the Standing Committee, Li Yalong, deputy director of the Provincial Population, Resources and Environment Committee of the CPPCC, and members of the Standing Committee like Bao Qingfen, Wang Guobin, Yuan Weidong, Wang Wei, Liu Jianxin, Wang Juncheng, Cheng Jianhong and Liu Weiling.
Song Wenbao announced the beginning of the final sitting at 9 a.m.
The meeting endorsed the political resolution of Yichang’s Second Session of the Sixth Committee of the CPPCC, the work report resolution of the Standing Committee of Yichang’s Second Session of the Sixth Committee of the CPPCC, the proposal work report of the resolution of Yichang’s Sixth Committee of the CPPCC since the first session of the sixth conference, and the view report on the draft resolution at the Second Session of the sixth conference by the Proposal Committee of Yichang’s Sixth Committee of the CPPCC.
Song Wenbao delivered the closing speech. He said that the Fifth Plenary Session of the Sixth Municipal Party Committee Conference has assigned the work to speed up the construction of a strong and modernized city of socialism and made systematic arrangements for the work in 2018; the new era gives us new missions, and the new journey puts forward new demands; standing at a new historical starting point, the Municipal CPPCC organizations at all levels, all participating units and all CPPCC members, carrying the expectations of people from all walks of life and all ethnic groups in the city, should think and work with one heart and one mind and should ride on the waves of the times in the new era.
Song Wenbao stressed that, all members of the CPPCC should embrace a new era and resolutely safeguard the authority and centralized leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, should always maintain political, ideological, strategic and moral force, and remember their mission and then start out again to work with added vigor and with sleeves up. They should perform new duties, consider people’s feelings more, read and learn more, and innovate more. They should start from a proposal, a suggestion or a research report, and offer advice on the planning and improvement of various policies, and on the promotion and implementation of the work in various fields, and contribute their wisdom so that Yichang may speed forward on the new starting line. They should show their new conducts and know the overall situation and the general trend and discuss major matters. They should look at facts, put forward frank admonition and mastermind practical policies. They should bear their responsibility, change their working styles and pay attention to the implementation of the policies. They should share a common fate with people and be of one mind with people. They should know the practice of political consultation and be good at both consultation and discussion of the affairs of government. They should also observe discipline and rules and pay attention to their moral conducts, showing their talents as committee members in the fulfillment of their duties and identifying themselves in their unremitting efforts to tackle tough tasks and make achievements.
Also Seated on the rostrum were Shang Kui, Wu Kangnian, Zhou Qing, Chen Hua, Kong Fusheng, Wang Yinghua, Zhou Zhengying, Huang Liming, Lu Jun, Zhang Peng, Liu Hongfu, Zhang Zhongbin, Bi Kuiming, Luo Yi, Liu Xiaohua, Deng Xidong, Wang Yuancheng, Li Jianlin, party secretary of China Three Gorges University, Huang Aiguo, deputy director of China Three Gorges Group Junction Management Bureau, Wu Weixing, vice chairman of the Fifth Session of the Municipal CPPCC, Wang Guoxin, committee member of National CPPCC, Li Xiaoguo, member of the provincial CPPCC Standing Committee, and Rao Yumei, member of the provincial CPPCC Standing Committee and chairman of Yichang Municipal DPP Committee.
Sitting in on the meeting were provincial CPPCC members in Yichang, the heads of the city’s democratic parties, the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce, the people’s organizations and the municipal bureaus and the news units, and the representatives of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese in Yichang, the consultative advisory committee members of the Municipal CPPCC, the representatives of the masses and other persons concerned.
