In 2017, Yichang Sanxia Airport has received a total of 2,243,800 passengers and 19,452 aircraft landing and taking off, an increase of 46.1% and 36.1% respectively over the same period of last year. Now Yichang Sanxia Airport has become the largest international gateway airport in the western Hubei and the east to Chongqing.

　　Last year, Yichang Sanxia Airport continued to promote the development of “Yichang Flights Travel Union”, having attracted numerous airline companies to increase their airlines in Yichang. As a result, 13 new domestic routes and 3 international routes have been opened at the airport. Now there are altogether 34 navigation points between domestic cities. Every day there are three flights to Shenzhen, Beijing and Guangzhou, and two flights to Shanghai and Xi’an. Thus direct flights within 2 hours can be made from Yichang to all major cities in China that have navigation points. In terms of international routes, some new international destinations, including Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand, Nha Trang in Vietnam, and etc., have been launched.
