A new round of senior high school entrance examination reform in our city will be put into operation, which begins with the seventh grade new students who entered school in the fall of 2017. On January 15, the Municipal Education Bureau announced that the total score of "new senior high school entrance examination" will be adjusted from the original 510 to 680 points, the number of scoring subjects will increase to 10 and the comprehensive quality evaluation of 20 points will be added additionally at the press conference for deepening the reform and implementation plan of entrance examination system in high school.

　　Since 2020, the academic proficiency examination subjects of Yichang junior high school graduates will be adjusted to 15 courses: Chinese, mathematics, foreign languages, physics, chemistry, biology, ethics and rule of law, history, geography, physical education, music, fine arts, integrated practice activity（including research-based study, community service and social practice, labor and technology, information technology), life safety education and mental health education.

　　The total score of "new senior high school entrance examination" is 680 points (including 20 points for students' comprehensive qualifications). The specific settings are as follows: Chinese (120 points), mathematics (120 points), English (120 points = written test 80 points + 40 points of listening and speaking test ), physics (80 points = written test 70 points + experimental operation 10 points), chemistry (50 points = written test 45 points + experimental operation 5 points), and physical education (50 points = 5 points for each performance in grade seven, eight and nine + 35points of the high school entrance physical education exam) are counted points in the total score with the original score ; in accordance with A, B, C, D these four levels, biology, geography, ethics and rule of law and history are counted scores corresponding to 30 points, 25 points, 20 points and 10 points respectively. In addition, the exam results of music, fine arts, information technology, life safety education and mental health education examinations reaching level C will be regarded as one of standards for comprehensive high schools admission, and only one D-level subject are accepted for entering a general high school.

　　As for the examination time, “new senior high school entrance exam" implements the principle of the "taking exams after finishing study ". Chinese, mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, ethics and the rule of law, history exam time will be scheduled from June 20th to 22nd every year; biology and geography exam time will be scheduled at June 22nd at the end of the second semester in grade eight; PE, music, art, information technology, life safety education, mental health education, and physical and chemical experiments exam time will be arranged in the second semester of grade nine; the exam of biological experiment will be arranged in the second semester of grade eight.
