On April 11, the preliminary design scheme of reconstruction and extension project and auxiliary projects of terminal area of Yichang Three Gorges Airport had passed its evaluation and will be put into operation late 2018.

　　It was learned that reconstruction and extension of airfield had started on March 23, and the projects of terminal areas are scheduled to start in late 2018 and come into service in 2020. With the reasonable and highly efficient design of port entrance and exit which will be added viaduct stations and terminal mezzanines, the new terminals can separate the passengers in and out, realizing rapid circulation. Therefore, they are expected to cater 5 million tourists per year. In addition, the new terminals will increase the parking lot by 40,000 square meters, the transportation hub and the reserved interfaces of the rail transit station, making full preparation for the access of the rail transit line 2 to achieve the integration of the traffic organization of Yichang Three Gorges Airport.
