Yichang Education Bureauhas issued the planonexcellent student enrollmentfor urban comprehensive high schoolsin 2018, which are no obvious changes compared with that of the previous years.This year,excellent student enrollment ratio is 70% of the mandatory plan, and the minimumadmission score can be under 40 points for the high school entrance examination line. The head of the Basic Education Department of Yichang Education Bureau said that Yichang will achieve the goalof morethan 80% excellent student enrollmentby 2020, andeliminate theminimumadmission scoreas well.

This year, Yiling Senior Middle School, Yichang No.1 Senior High School and Gezhouba Senior Middle School will recruit excellent studentsin all junior schools in Yichangcity. The plan on excellent studentenrollment is a part of mandatory planissuedby Hubei Provincial Department of Education, which accounts 70% of mandatory plans.The excellent studentenrollmentnumber will be allocated by Yichang Education Bureauin a certain proportion according to total juniorschool graduatesof each district, then will be distributed to each junior high school by District Education Bureau in accordance with the requirements of Yichang Education Bureau.
Principle for planning enrollment:
The basis and proportion for excellent students' enrollment in each district are as follows: fresh graduates in junior high school students account for 60%; the evaluation results of educational teaching quality in junior middle school account for 30%; the examination results of regulating school in junior high school account for 10%.
Qualifications for excellent student enrollment:
The qualification of enrollment students is issued by Education Bureau in each district. In 2018, the enrollment conditions are as follows: junior high school graduates in the enrollment area (the students in private schools or public schools that have been approved by cross-regional enrollment are not restricted); students who have formal student status and have been studying at school for just three years; the results of comprehensive quality assessment are above 2A or 3B level; sports score is above 60(hundred-mark system);students have passed all four subjects in the academic examination.
Application and Enrollment
Students with the qualifications should sit the municipal senior high school entranceexam. They are eligible to apply for the three schools, and they can also take part in other senior high schools’enrollments at the same time. Comprehensive high schools take priority in expansively enrolled studentsand then enroll the students with the qualifications. Expansively enrolled studentsshould reach theminimum passing scores in urban area while the students with qualifications are enrolled according to their middle high schools;meanwhile, those qualified students aren’t admitted to high schools if theirscores are under 40 points compared with the minimum passing scores in urban area.
The students will be admitted according totheir applicationsandallocation planfor each middle high school.When the examinees’scores remain same, high schools will enroll students according to the examinee's comprehensive quality evaluation result, the excellent record conditionsand the examination subject result.If the allocation plan can’t be completed even on theminimum control score line, its spareplaceswill beincludedto the unified enrollment planto enroll students in urban city area.
