28 Good Days in Urban Areas in April

  On May 8th, the reporter learned from the city’s Air Pollution Control Management Office that there are 28 days of good air quality in urban areas in April, accounting for 96.6% of the whole month, an increase of 3.3% year-on-year.

  In April, the average concentration of PM10 in urban area was 86 micrograms/cubic meter, 4.9% higher than the same period of last year. Yiling District, Wujiagang District, Dianjun District, and High-tech Zone did not fall but rise; the average monthly PM2.5 concentration was 43 micrograms/cubic meter, the same as that of the same period of last year. The Xiaoting District and the Dianjun District did not fall but rise.

  Ozone rose 12.4% than the same period of last year. It rose in all districts except Yiling District, and Wujiagang District increased most. From January to April, the air quality in urban area of our city improved obviously, in which PM10 decreased by 11.6% and PM2.5 decreased by 8.4% when compared with the same period of last year.

  Next, our city will strictly control ozone pollution in high-temperature month and implement control measures to prevent the ozone from exceeding the standard, which include: increasing fog gun sprinkling in high-temperature hours, off-peak production of industrial enterprises with volatile organic compounds, strengthening vehicle pollution control, prohibiting outdoor spraying, welding, and spraying pesticides and so on; taking measures for prevention and control of dust pollution, promoting full coverage of video surveillance and particulate matter on-line monitoring, advancing locating and tracking management of slag trucks, and increasing dust control; implementing special funds to promote technical security and protection capacity building,such as high-definition video surveillance of pollution sources, fixed remote sensing monitoring system and so on to achieve accurate haze governance.
