Public Tip-offs Expected on Unqualified Cakes and Biscuits

  It is learned on June 5th from Yichang’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that 3 batches of samples are found unqualified among the18 categories of 211 batches of food samples.

  It is reported that among the59 batches of cakes tested 1 batch is foundunqualified, and 2 out of the15 batches of biscuits sampled areunqualified. And there is no unqualified sample in the sampling of multiple batches ofprocessed foodproducts, beverages, convenience foods, canned foods, frozen foods etc.

  According to the publicity of FDA, the 3 batches of unqualified products checked are:cheese biscuits (date of production/batch number: 2018-03-28) produced by Zhijiang Wei’nong Cake Factory, with a detection value of 0.0640 g/kg for sorbic acid, while the stipulated value is 0; the original taste cookies (production date/batch number: 2018-03-28) produced by Zhijiang Wei’nong Cake Factory, with a detection value of 0.0142 g/kg for sorbic acid, while the stipulated value is 0; and the cakes (called cat ears: a kind food made by flour and in a shape of cat ear) (production date / batch number: 20180308) produced by Xingyan Food Co., Ltd. of Xingshan County, with a value of cyclamate (based on cyclamic acid sulfamate) 2.77g/kg, while the standard is ≤1.6g/kg.

  As for the unqualified products found in the sampling inspection, the FDA has urged the producers and sellersto immediately seal, remove and recall them.
