On June 8, Changyang Folk Museum was opened in Baguihuizhi High-Tech Business Incubator in Changyang County, where a series of activities full of local practices and folk culture, such as Tujia style wedding ceremonies and folk songs, were displayed on scene.
The exhibition halls included the room for strove set, living room, bedroom, storeroom and other Tujia people's livelihood which record the traces of the ancestors’ life and display the distinctive Qingjiang Batu culture, exhibiting the real life of Tujia people.
Changyang is one of the birthplaces of the Tujia’s Ba culture in China. There are "three cultural treasures" in Changyang known as folk songs, Southern music, and Sayeeryu, as well as "three industry treasures” including odd stones, bonsai and root art. On the spot, local folk artists gave a performance on intangible cultural heritage such as Changyang Folk Song, Tujia Fishery Drum, and Duzhen Bay Story. Various types of production and living appliances and folk objects like The Tujia Waterwheel, the original ecological millstones show the spiritual outlook of the Tujia people and their cultural creation. Mao Weiguo, chairman of Lao Bawang Ecological Agriculture, said that the Folk Museum fully demonstrated the industrious, intelligent, unrestrained, and up-to-date character of the Tujia people by interpretingthe Tujia farming culture, fishing and hunting culture, folk culture, and it is the inheritance of Tujia folk customs and the continuation of civilization.
