
On the morning of June 30, the successful pouring of the concreting of the underground passage connecting the 2nd Xiling Road BRT with the Stadium Road marks the completion of the main constructions of the bridge and tunnel along the 2nd Xiling Road BRT. The remaining construction of road pavement, roadbed back filling and ancillary facilities of the BRT passage will be finished as scheduled and the whole project will be completed in October.
It is learnt that the underground passage of the 2nd Xiling Road is 1,100 meters long. The framework is a rectangular-section reinforced concrete cast-in-place box culvert with a width of 20.1 to 26.5 meters and a depth of 12 meters. The construction was started in August, 2017, and it took nearly 10 months to finally complete the last time-lined milestone task from earth moving, foundation pit support to framework construction.
"In the future, we can take the 2nd Xiling Road BRT to cross the Xiazhou Avenue and the downtown area of Yichang. It will only take less than 20 minutes to the East Railway Station and more than 10 minutes to the Yiling District, which is more convenient." According to the project director, the 2nd Xiling Road BRT, starting from the Yanjiang Avenue in the east and ending at the Xiazhou Avenue in the west, is an important part of the BRT Priority Passage Network of Yichang Municipal Overall City Planning. The total line connects Zhenzhu Road,Yiling Avenue and Dongshan Avenue, and then passes downward the Yayi Railway, Stadium Road, and then crosses upward the Daxue Road, Three Gorges Highway and Development Road, with a total length of 7.5 kilometers.
