The 2018 Yichang International Marathons, namely the National Marathons Championship (Yichang Site) will begin at the urban area on Nov., 4th. On July 2nd, Liu Weiling, Standing Committee of the Municipal Committee of the CPC and also the deputy mayor, hosted the first meeting of Event Organizing Committee.

　　The meeting stressed that this championship is a big event for Yichang, so every member unit must put great premium on its planning and strengthen safety responsibility, overall coordination and promotion so as to ensure a safe, marvelous and successful championship, fully showcasing the good image and proper management of Yichang. It is also hoped that Yichang people can win the gold on the basis of winning the bronze and silver medal on China Association of Athletics in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

　　It is reported that China Association of Athletics has set nine sites for the 2018 National Marathons Championships, one of which is Yichang. According to the plan of “I want to take part in the Olympics”, the accumulated score of the grassroots runners taking part in championships in the nine sites will be the basis for selecting domestic amateur to participate in 2020 Tokyo Olympic Marathons.
