It is learned on July 9 from the Management Office of the Three Gorges Botanical Garden that the CCTV film crew has come to Yichang recently to make a kiwifruit feature film.
This documentary is an important part of the ten-episode large-scale documentaryThe Chinese Plants Having Changed the World, which is prepared by the World Horticultural Exposition Affairs Bureau of Beijing City and directed by YinLiping, a famous CCTV director and with Huang Hongwen, former director of the South China Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,as the expert consultant. It is reported that the large-scale documentary is the first of its kind featuring nature in China to fully display the plant world, which will be exhibited as one of the highlights during the 2019 Beijing’sWorld Horticultural Exposition, and will be showed to visitors from all over the world,so as to enrich the horticultural culture of the exposition and reserve a valuable cultural heritage for the Chinese plants.
During their stay in Yichang, the crew shot scenes in Dalaoling Forest Farm,Wuduhe Town, Xialaoxi River and the Three Gorges Waterfall to restore the history how the British plant collector Wilson and New Zealand teacher Isabel collected wild kiwifruit and spread them to the world at the beginning of the last century, showing the natural land scape of Yichang as the origin of kiwifruit, and deeply exploring the history and significance of the fruit to the world. It is also a great opportunity to promote the local produce.
