From August 10 to 12, Ma Dayi, the deputy director of the propaganda office of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and his group visited Yichang for the research on National Forest City construction. Besides, Liu Hongfu, the vice mayor,accompanied them to conduct the research.

　　The research group went deep into some places including Xiaoting District, Wujiagang District, Yiling District, Dianjun District, Yidu City and Yichang Forestry Bureau to understand in detail the achievements of establishing a national forest city in our city.

　　It was understood that,in July 2012, following Wuhan, Yichang was awarded the second “National Forest City”in Hubei Province.Over the past six years, our city has invested 22.28 billion yuan in total,implementing 645 key greening projects and 7200 kilometers of passageway greening, repairing 66 kilometers of Yangtze River riverbank and planning 890,000 mu of trees.The forest coverage reached 65.16%, ranking first in the cities and counties in whole province.
