Expert: Beginning of Autumn Being Not Entering Autumn, People Still Needing to Prevent Heatstroke
2018-08-22 10:31:43

On August 12, the reporter learned from the City Emergency Center that from July 17 to the present, the center has rescued 23 heatstroke patients. Among them, after the Beginning of Autumn on August 7, the center rescued 3 heatstroke patients and the heatstroke location was at the construction site, outdoors and at home respectively. First aid experts reminded that although autumn has already begun, it was still early from the real autumn, and the “Autumn Tiger” was still in the rear. Severe heatstroke would still be fatal for people after the Beginning of Autumn. Therefore, in hot weather, people still need to prevent heatstroke.

The data showed that among the 23 heatstroke patients rescued by the City Emergency Center, there were 16 people over the age of 50.

Relevant person in charge of the City Emergency Center explained that the hidropoies is inhibition function and the high thermal resilience of the elderly declined. In addition, many elderly people had multiple diseases, and their bodies had a lower ability to adjust to changes in outside temperature, so they were more likely to suffer from heatstroke.

First aid experts suggest that in hot weather, the elderly should not go out between 10 am and 4 pm. At home, they should cool the body and actively prevent heat stroke through opening the fan, using air conditioner, keeping windows open for ventilation, wiping the body and other means. If it is found that the old disease of the elderly people with underlying diseases suddenly become aggravated or the elderly have symptoms of retching, dizziness and so on, the first thing is to consider and identify whether these symptoms are related to heatstroke. Once they have the symptoms of unconsciousness or spasm, people should call 120 immediately and send the patient to the hospital for resuscitation, while cooling by ventilation and wiping the body with a wet towel.
