49 Public Kindergartens to be Built or Rebuilt in the Next Three Years

  It’s learned from the Yichang Basic Education Work Conference that the third three-year action plan of preschool education was released. In the next three years, Yichang will build, rebuild or expand 49 public kindergartens, and inclusive public kindergartens will strive to take up more than 83%.

  In order to further solve the problem of “kindergarten crunch” and improve the quality of education, Yichang will increase the supply of inclusive public resources. By 2020, a public preschool education service system which is based on inclusiveness, comprehensive institutional mechanisms, balanced and high-quality development will be basically constructed. Comprehensive development level of preschool education of the city will top the whole province. From 2018 to 2020, 49 public kindergartens will be built, rebuilt or expanded in the whole city, and among them,11 will be in urban areas with two in Yiling district, two in Wujiagang district, one in Dianjun district, and six in High-Tech district. At present, Yueliangwan Kindergarten and Yihua Xintiandi Kindergarten in Wujiagang district are being decorated. The Yichang Municipal Kindergarten at Hengda Dijing in High-Tech district is currently near the end of decoration and is expected to open in November this year.

  Since the implementation of the second three-year action plan of preschool education, preschool education in the whole city has developed rapidly and healthily. By the end of 2017, there were 429 kindergartens in the city, including 115 public kindergartens, 314 private kindergartens. Among them, 348 were public and inclusive private kindergartens. The city had 19 provincial model kindergartens and 49 municipal model kindergartens. The provincial and municipal model kindergartens accounted for 16% of the whole. 84,920 children were in kindergartens, 67,807 of them were in public kindergartens and inclusive private kindergartens, accounting for 80% of the kindergarten children. The gross admission rate of three-year preschool education was 92%.
