(Reporter: Huang Chunmei) In the morning of September 3, the first day of school, the students of Class No.205 in Yichang’s Experimental Primary School led by Lei Ming, a teacher, held the Little Eco-Citizens reading books, devoting themselves to the colorful classroom learning. On the same day, the Little Eco-Citizens series reading books, jointly compiled by Municipal Education Bureau and 16 departments, and published by China Three Gorges Publishing House and the Three Gorges Electronic Audiovisual Publishing House, were distributed to more than 400,000 students in the 885 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in the city.

　　According to the arrangement, from September this year, the primary and secondary school students in our city should study textbooks with at least two themes for each academic year and each theme should be taught for no less than 4 class hours in principle. Kindergarten children should learn at least one theme through such books for each academic year and participate in at least two ecological practice activities. All schools have selected part-time teachers and chief teachers for the teaching of the reading books. At the same time, the Municipal Education Bureau has taken the lead in setting up an ecological environment promotion delegation of experts, who are supposed to enter campuses and classrooms. At present, such city-level delegation has had more than 50 experts.
