The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday this year coincided with the first “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival”. The city received a total of 2,254,700 tourists and achieved a tourism income of 1.133 billion RMB, with year-on-year growth of 29.2 percent and 34.5 percent respectively, of which, the eight key scenic spots included in the statistics received a total of 163,100 tourists and realized a tourism income of 10.403 million RMB.
In order to celebrate the first “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival”, the celebrations launched by various counties and cities had become the leading part of holiday tourism. The first “Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival” in Yiling District was held in Guanzhuang Village, with nearly 10,000 visitors experiencing a colorful harvest festival. The first “Contention for OX King” and “Cattle and Sheep Gourmet Festival” were launched in Yichang Bailihuang alpine grassland tourist area. Tourists were invited to participate in the selection of “OX King”, “Queen of OX King” and “Champion of OX”, besides, a three-meter hot pot of beef and mutton was prepared for thousands of people to taste. Zhijiang City held a celebration in Anfusi Town, which attracted more than 1,000 citizens to the countryside and signed more than 300,000 jin of citrus sales agreements and more than 100,000 kg of Zhijiang rice. With Zhaojun cultures as the main content, the activities such as Chrysanthemum Exhibition and “Memorizing Zhaojun in the Mid-Autumn” held in Zhaojun of Xingshan were popular with tourists with local performing such as dancing, songs and allegro, which received 11,300 tourists in three days.
Before the festival, the Yichang Municipal Tourism Commission established and released the Yichang Camping Site Tourist Guide and Yichang Tourist Homestay Guide to launch the “most beautiful tourist landscape corridor” online voting activities, so as to attract tourists to live in boutique Homestay, taste rural food, and experience RV camp. On the basis of a 10 percent to 20 percent reduction in overall ticket sales, the major scenic spots also launched a series of sales promotion, which added a strong atmosphere to the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Three Gorges Dam, Three Gorges Tribe Scenic Spot, Qingjiang River Gallery Scenic Resort, and Qu Yuan’s Hometown respectively received 35,700, 30,900, 25,800, and 15,000 visitors.
During the festival, the Yichang Municipal Tourism Comprehensive Law Enforcement and the Yichang Municipal Environmental Police jointly carried out the law enforcement activity of tourism market order, and launched non-stop inspections in key areas such as the Sanjiao Reception Center, along the special highway of the Three Gorges, Yemingzhu intersection, the expressway of the Dongshan Economic& Technical Development Zone, along the Three Gorges Dam, Xiling Gorge Scenic Spot, and Three Gorges Tribe Scenic Spot. During the inspections, they did not find any illegal activities like“unlicensed taxis and tour guide” and “soliciting customers at the roadside”. (Journalist Wang Ying, Correspondent Hou Yongsheng)
