On September 18th, the first residence permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents were issued at the Administrative Service Center of Yiling District. Ms. Chen from Hong Kong and Mr. Liu from Taiwan received their long-awaited residence permits.The "Application and Issuance of Residence Permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents" were implemented on September 1st, and the residence permit will be available within 20 working days after the application.
It is learnt that residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who hold the residence permit can enjoy their rights of being employed andinsuredand the withdrawal and usage of the housing fund in accordance with the law at the place of residence; and they have access to 6 basic public services such as compulsory education, public employment, public health, culture and sports, and legal services. They canalso enjoy the conveniences brought by the following 9 aspects including application fora motor vehicle driving license, taking part in vocational qualification examinations, registration for birth services as well as services in accommodation, transportation, finance, shopping and entertainment and so on at the place of residence.
Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents who have lived in the mainland (inland area of China) for more than half a year, and meet one of the requirements of having a legally stable work, a place of residence or being qualified for a continuous study, can hold the valid mainland travel permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents or a five-year mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents, to apply for a residence permit for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents at the local public security organ based on their wishes. For those Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents under the age of 16,their guardiansmay apply for a residence permit for them.
At present, 40 sites have been arrangedto handle the related procedures for the qualified Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots. (Reporter Gong Changjun, correspondent Fu Wudi)
