On Oct. 22th, column “Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era—New Era as a New Chapter” of CCTV news broadcast reported that Zhicheng town, Yidu city actively promoted industrial upgrading and implemented kinetic energy conversion, so as to achieve transformation of chemical industry town into an ecological new town, with the title of Zhicheng town, Hubei Province: The Chemical Industry Town Was Changing to An Ecological New City.

　　According to the report, the chemical industry in Zhicheng town, which is located along the Yangtze River, has always been a pillar industry in the town. Since last year, Yichang has implemented the requirement of Yangtze River protection and carried out the chemical industry clearance operation within one kilometer along the Yangtze River. In the face of short struggle, Zhicheng town has taken the initiative to turn traditional chemical industry to fine chemical industry. Three high energy-consuming enterprises were eliminated and shut down. After transformation and upgrading, the remaining 14 traditional chemical enterprises moved into the newly-built refined industrial park in stages.

　　While actively transforming and upgrading, Zhicheng town also vigorously introduces new kinetic energy, turning to new energy and new materials. Since last year, a total of 16 new kinetic energy projects have been invested in Zhicheng Town, with a negotiated investment of more than 35 billion RMB. After putting into production, it will account for more than two-thirds of the industrial output value of Zhicheng Town and the industrial structure will be greatly changed. By seizing the opportunities brought by the great protection of the Yangtze River, Zhicheng town actively promotes industrial upgrading and implements kinetic energy conversion, thus transforming the former chemical town into an ecological new town.

　　In September this year, according to the unified arrangement of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, an interview group composed of 16 mainstream media from the central and provincial levels, including the People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, CCTV, China National Radio, China News Service, Hubei Daily and Hubei Media Group, came to Zhicheng town, Yidu city for centralized interviews. In recent days, the media such as People’s Daily, Xinhuanet, Guangming Daily, Chinanews, Economic Daily and Hubei Daily have promoted the new practice of green development of Zhicheng Town from different perspectives, such as the chemical enterprise transformation, the wharf renovation and the rural revitalization.
