The first quality evaluation of kiwifruit in Yichang was held at the Yichang Academy of Agricultural Sciences on Oct. 19th.

　　Six experts from provincial Fruit and Tea Office and the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences scored 18 samples of kiwifruit selected by 13 specialized cooperatives and large planters from the aspects of appearance, taste, flavor and variety characteristics. As a result, the first prize was awarded to the Jintao selected from the Qicaiyun kiwifruit planting family farm in Hekou Township, Yuanan County. The second prize was awarded to the local varieties selected by the Mingfu Fruit Planting Specialized Cooperative in Yiling District and the Jintao selected by the Wufeng Sibo Kiwifruit Specialized Cooperative. The third prize was awarded to Hongyang selected by Jianianhua Ecological Red Kiwifruit Specialized Cooperative in Yuanan, Jinkui selected by the Kiwifruit Specialized Cooperative in Wuduhe Town of Yiling District, and Cuiyu selected by the Xiangziyan Kiwifruit Planting Specialized Cooperative in Yuxiakou Town, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County.

　　It was reported that in 2017, the planting area of kiwifruit in the whole city reached 12,000 mu, the output reached more than 5,000 tons, and the output value reached nearly 80 million RMB.
