In the late autumn when Yichang is offering us its charming scenery with clean water, multi-colored leaves and golden oranges, the 2018 Yichang International Citrus Trade Fair officially kicked off on Nov. 7th, which was regarded as a high profile international event with the most visited international guests in Yichang.
At around 10 am, approximately 40 purchasers from 12 countries and regions along the “Belt and Road Route” and other countries and regions including Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Ukraine, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Czech Republic, Canada, Italy, Hongkong China came to Taohualing Hotel of Yichang successively to attend the trade fair. In addition, more than 160 representatives at home including College of Life Sciences of Zhejiang University, Manzhouli Customs, Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics, Huahe International, also presented.
Though coming all the way from different places, they share common goals that are opening up wider for international trade and yielding fruitful results for international citrus trade fair.

International Citrus Trade Fair: a new chapter for citrus industry
Yichang, well-known citrus capital, is home to three types of citrus including “Yichang tangerine”,“Zigui navel orange” and “Qingjiang Ponkan citrus” and both its citrus plant area and output rank the 1stamong all prefectural cities in China. What’s more, a group of well-known citrus export processing enterprises including Hanway Agriculture, Xiaoxihong Citrus Corporation and Qugu Food Corporation have sprung up successively.
This year is again a citrus harvest year for Yichang. However, problems like how to increase the output of citrus and income of citrus farmers? How to better export Yichang citrus abroad under the “Belt and Road Initiative”? How to make Yichang top one citrus production area in Hubei province, in China or even the whole world? need to be solved badly for the municipal government of Yichang. In that case, the 2018 Yichang International Citrus Trade Fair was held for wider opening up and win-win results.
Action speaks louder than words. According to the 2018 Yichang “Belt and Road Initiative”Construction Working Plan, the municipal government of Yichang started the preparation of 2018 Yichang International Citrus Trade Fair and sent invitation letters to citrus purchasers from the countries along the Belt and Road Routes asking them to taste the Yichang citrus and discuss the win-win cooperation.
Soon after the delivery of these invitation letters, the municipal government of Yichang received reply letters from many countries and regions， of which the chairman of Kazakhstan Farmers' Association 达列诺夫 gave the earliest reply saying he would attend the fair with his delegation. After that, more reply letters from Tajikistan, Russia, Ukraine, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Czech Republic, Canada, Italy, Hongkong China were received. Up to three pm Oct. 31st, thirty-five purchasers from abroad confirmed that they wound join the fair. In addition, related person specializing in export business and export goods transportation at home also expressed their willingness to participate and support the fair. All in all, it proves that an open, inclusive, prosperous and developing Yichang has won the cognition and support both home and abroad.

He said the scenery of Yichang is totally different from the scenery of his country, which is known for its grassland, desert and plateau. He also showed his eagerness to see the citrus planting area as soon as possible to taste the sweet Yichang citrus believing that Yichang citrus plant area must be as beautiful as Yichang and the Yichang citrus must be as sweet as Yichang people. He truly believed that this fair must be a fruitful one and Yichang citrus will sell well in Kazakhstan...
A Thailand purchaser said this was his first time to China and Yichang. He had known China is a beautiful country and Yichang is the city where Three Gorges Project locates. However, he had never thought that Yichang is such a beautiful, modern and living-friendly city. He also emphasized that the Yichang citrus is favored in Thailand for they are juicy and sweet. In this fair, he would not only taste the Yichang citrus but also bring a batch of them to Thailand so that people there can also savour these delicious fruits...

Trade Fair Won Compliments
John, the executive officer of the Agriteam Canada, started to read the trade fair brochure as soon as he arrived. He said that he was so surprised to see such a well-arranged and international standard fair in Yichang for the organizing committee not only equipped with English interpreters but also Russian interpreters which brought much convenience to the guests. He also added that other activities like the field visit, on site exchange and contract signing as well as the award ceremony will greatly enhance the acceptability of Yichang from the international purchasers and Yichang’s reputation.
