On November 12th, a conference on research and learning camp construction work was held by the Ministry of Education in Beijing, at which Yichang Teenagers’ Practice Education Base was selected as one of the three major demonstration camps to be given a financial support of 120 million yuan by the ministry during the “13th Five-Year Plan’’ period.
In order to promote the healthy development of national study tours, the Ministry of Education, taking into consideration their actual conditions, resources, and teacher resources, identified six national research demonstration camps out of the 40 “National Primary and Secondary School students’ Research Practice Education Camps” on the 2017 and 2018 lists according to an east-central-west layouts, and the first three of them will be given special support and the other three a little less support. The first three camps are Oriental Green Boat (Shanghai students’ off-campus activity base), Yichang Teenagers’ Practice Education Base, and Xi'an Primary and Secondary School Students’ Off-campus Comprehensive Practice Base. Each of the three camps will be given an award fund of 120 million yuan during the “13th Five-Year Plan” period to integrate their resources, enhance their capabilities and develop courses so that they can play a leading role and be built into international research learning demonstration camps with Chinese wisdom and style to receive more Chinese and even overseas students.
It is learned that Yichang Teenagers’ Practice Education Base is a national-level demonstration one approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, with a total investment of 150 million yuan and its first phase was completed and put into operation last year. The base, a key project of Yichang, has such outdoor training fields as quality development park, military training camp and playground, swimming pools and basketball playgrounds, and has received more than 30,000 students in almost a year. It promotes the study tours through a model of “1 (demonstration camp) + N (N research travel bases)” and has attracted a large number of primary and middle school students and even college students from Hubei and other provinces.
