On the evening of December 13, CCTV launched the third episode of The Road to the Great, Great Leap, which introduced the practice and effect of Yichang's strong promotion of ecological restoration and environmental protection in the Yangtze River and adhering to the path of ecological priority and green development.

　　“The Yangtze River Economic Belt covers 11 provinces and cities and carries more than 40% of China's population and GDP.” With the voice-over, the program shots take off from the magnificent Three Gorges Project, and we see the vast Yangtze River. The picture of “flat mountain, broad water, and big city” shocks our eyes.

　　The lens is transferred to the Xingrui No. 1 Thermal Power Plant along the Yangtze River in Xiaoting District. With a muffled sound, the chimney fell and the "First Blast" of Yangtze River green –protection officially started. This is a key step for Yichang to accelerate the elimination of backward production capacity, practice green development and implement the protection of the Yangtze River.

　　“With chimneys slowly falling down, new industries are quietly rising one by one.” The spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping in Symposium on the in-depth promotion of the Yangtze River Economic Belt Developmentis thoroughly studied in Yichang which isthe location of the Three Gorges Dam and the important node city of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The people of Yichang work together to promote the great protection, and spares no effort to do “the three articles” called ecological restoration, environmental protection and green development, and promotes Yichang's green, innovative, high quality and sustainable development.

　　Eliminating backward production capacity is costly. In 2017, the economic growth rate of Yichang fell from 8.8% of the previous year to 2.4%, which was once the lowest in Hubei province. But after the change, the new economy adds new vitality to it. In the program, the high-end industries such as biomedicine and automobile manufacturing that Yichang vigorously develop take turns to “stage”. In the third quarter of 2018, Yichang's economic growth rate rebounded to 7%.
