Passengers can “Scan Face” to Enter Yichang East Railway Station This Spring Festival Travel Rush
2019-01-10 11:19:18

The renovation project of Yichang East Railway Station, which has lasted for four months, is to be completed. After the renovation, not only will have the infrastructure been upgraded, the anticipated intelligent equipment will also have been put into use. Yesterday, the reporter learned from Yichang East Railway Station that at present, the electronic landmark and face scanning systems are under intensive construction and are expected to be launched around the Spring Festival travel rush.

Face-scanning makes entering the station more convenient and fast.

As part of the railway travel, ticket check-in has always been placed in an important position to ensure the safety of passengers. In the past, the ticket inspectors checked tickets manually to ensure the consistence of “the passenger, the certificate and the ticket”. The process was slow and passengers were often left to wait in long queues.

After the completion of the renovation, Yichang East Railway Station will set up a face-scanning system on 21 passages of the four entrances, so that most passengers can directly “scan face”to enter the station without waiting in long queues for manual ticket inspection.

When the system goes into service, passengers can quickly enter the station by simply scanning their ID cards on the terminal and facing the camera. Manual ticket checking is no longer needed. Generally speaking, face-scanning takes only 3 to 6 seconds, so it greatly saves manpower and is more convenient and fast.

The new face-scanning system is also seamlessly connected with the network of the Ministry of Public Security. Once an abnormal person scans his face, he will be quickly identified and the terminal will send out alarm messages.

  Electronic landmarks are clearer.

Previously, Yichang East Railway Station mainly used purple, yellow, blue and green landmarks to distinguish different types of EMUs and their directions. After passengers entered the station, the station attendant needed to remind them repeatedly so that passengers could find the corresponding waiting points and carriages. Passengers sometimes failed to find their carriages because they didn’t understand what station attendants said. And this was also a heavy task for station attendants.

After the renovation, the electronic landmarks will be officially launched. All landmarks will be replaced by LED screens, and automatic positioning will be implemented. After the passengers enter the station, they can find the position of the corresponding carriages according to the information displayed on the LED screens on the ground instead of being reminded by station staff.

The electronic ticket is to be applied at the end of the year.

Current railway tickets are red bar code tickets and blue magnetic medium tickets. They all adopt the real-name system, which integrates the functions of carriage contract vouchers, passenger vouchers and reimbursement vouchers. Passengers need to travel with the ticket.

The relevant person in charge of Yichang East Railway Station said that, according to the construction process of the intelligent station, by the end of this year, the station will also realize the application of electronic ticket.

After the application of electronic tickets, passengers can choose whether to print itinerary and reimbursement vouchers no matter they purchase tickets online, in railway stations or ticket agencies or through automatic vending machines.

If no reimbursement is required, the passenger can scan into the station with certificates like the 2nd-generation ID card, the electronic ticket or the QR code of 12306.
