The Throughput of the Three Gorges Hub Hits a Record high

  According to Xinhua news agency of Wuhan on January 5th(Reporter Li Siyuan).According to the Yangtze Three gorges Navigation Administration Bureau under the Ministry of Transport, the throughput of the Three Gorges Hub was 144 million tons in 2018, an increase of 3.87% compared with last year. Among them, the throughput of the Three Gorges Shiplock was 142 million tons, which exceeded the designed throughput by 42%. The throughput of the Three Gorges Hub hits a record high.

  In 2018, the Three Gorges Hub has experienced planned shutdown and overhaul of ship locks and large-flow flood periods. Navigation and hub administration offices actively coordinated and implemented water replenishment in dry season and flow control and discharge in flood season. A series of technical and management measures have been adopted to further tap potential hub of the Three Gorges Hub. From February 19th to March 24th ,2018, navigation and hub administration offices carried out a 33-day planned shutdown and overhaul, “diagnosing, maintaining and eliminating diseases” for the South Line ship lock of the Three Gorges, which ensured safe and stable operation of the lock.

  According to the current situation of the Three Gorges reach, the navigation administration office also revised and implemented the new Regulations for Navigation Dispatching of the Three Gorges-Gezhouba Hydraulic Project, optimized the ship dispatching organization, and formally incorporated the ship lift, which is still in the trial stage, into the lockage dispatching. The office said that they would continue to innovate the maintenance and management of ship locks, promote capacity expansion and potential mining of the Three Gorges Hub, and ensure smooth operation of the “Golden Waterway” of the Yangtze River.
