2.82 Million Chinese and Foreign Tourists Fall in Love with Yichang

  To celebrate the Spring Festival in the Year of the Pig, more than 100 folk activities in all parts of Yichang have been held, adding a new flavor to the city's tourism. The city has accumulatively received 2.8268 million domestic and foreign tourists, with an 18.12% year-on-year growth. Its total tourism revenue is 1.272 billion yuan, with a 19.44% year-on-year growth. And its five major scenic spots under the provincial focused surveillance have accumulatively received 301,500 tourists, generating a total income of 20.8174 million yuan.

  At the Ancient Music Hall in the Qingjiang Gallery Scenic Spot of Changyang, the original Tujia people’s singing and dancing performances accompanied the tourists in the celebration of the New Lunar Year. At Qu Yuan's hometown, another scenic spot, five folk activities were launched, including folk show performances and lantern riddle guessing. Other Folk activities such as lion dancing, walking on stilts, rowing lotus boats and guessing lantern riddles have been held in Jiufeng Valley Scenic Spot of Three Gorges in Yidu, attracting numerous tourists to come and experience. The ancient town of Longquan in Yiling District held a temple fair and a themed lantern show, staging social drama, an annual cooking contest, a centralized exhibition of tourist commodities and agricultural products. And such scenic spots as Mingfeng Mountain in Yuanan, Guanling Temple in Dangyang and Tianzhu Mountain in Changyang have carried out activities like New Year prayers and pilgrimages. Yuquan Scenic Spot in Dangyang promotes civilized incense burning this year by offering each visitor three incenses for free, and the tourist flow reached its peak from the 30th of the last lunar month last year to the 1st of the first lunar month this year, with a total number of 109,000 visitors.

  Apart from the folk activities, hot spring and skiing are also hot choices for travel. In the Bailihuang Mountain Grassland Scenic Spot, the “Greet the New Year by Skiing and Snow Playing” activity, a combination of tradition and fashion, has attracted a large number of fans “to seek spring in snow". The newly opened Wufeng International Ski Resort welcomed more than 2,000 guests within three days and earned more than 300,000 yuan. Wulingxiakou Eco-tourism Zone attracts many visitors by integrating canyon and cave sightseeing with hot springs.
