Recently, it has been approved by the government that designing a departure zone in the Three Gorges airport economic zone in the city; which means the smart-environmental city will have an era of airport-friendly use.

　　The overall planning is divided into two parts, the urban designs in the Three Gorges economic zone and departure zone, respectively. The overall design has carried on the layout of the space form and environment for about 45 square kilometers in the Three Gorges airport economic zone. The design in the departure zone starts from the Zhangjiawan Road, Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway, Wuhan-Yichang Expressway and the areas around Fengqiao Road. The departure zone is 18 square kilometers, which gives a main planning of the spatial form and structure, traffic organization, landscape system and so on.

　　According to the government approvals, it will set up a core ideology of smart-environmental city, and comprehensive services and airport industries could be the two-wheel-driving features. In the future, the focus will be on the four main industries, which are high-end manufacturing, modern logistics, comprehensive services and ecologic agriculture and tourism. The Yichang government wants to establish an environmental-friendly and intelligent airport city, in which has more aspects of these four industries to develop.

　　Last May, the local government had set up a clear strategy of the two-core driving, multiple-supporting, coordinating development in the seventh plenary session of the sixth municipal committee. According to this, the Three Gorges airport economic zone must play a full functional role of platform industry, accelerate the promotion of industrial strength, urban quality and comprehensive carrying capacity. The Three Gorges Airport Propulsion Office (preparation) which is working with the Municipal Planning Bureau now to start the designation in both the Three Gorges Airport Economic Zone and Departure Zone. And the good news came from the last December that it passed the experts’ evaluation successfully.

　　It is introduced that it will have many achievements this year. First, the Lingyun civil aviation industrial park will implement its first Boeing 737 passenger rescheduling business in March. And then the first stage of the navigation industry park is scheduled to be completed and put into production in the first half of the year. Next, the second phase of the Three Gorges Airport will be rebuilt and expanded. The air control projects will put into operation by the end of the October, and the main project of the terminal area will be completed by the end of this year. Besides that, Changshou Road and Tonghang Road will be opened to the public in the first half of the year; Yingbin 3rd Road, the extension area of Airport Road, Yingbin 2nd Road, Subway Line No.2 and other major infrastructure works are being carried out. From then, the images of ‘Intel-environmental city’ would be shown firstly.
