On March 12th, Municipal Library and Municipal Blind Association jointly held the promotion activity of digital reading for the blind to officially kick off the lending service of smart listening machine for the blind.

　　In the Municipal library, 25 visually impaired readers go through all the procedures for the public use of those smart listening machines and they experienced the operational methods guided by the staff. With smart listening machine, they can enjoy all kinds of free digital resources such as electronic books and medical massage and personalized digital resources online can be promoted according to the reading preferences of blind readers.

　　According to the staff of the Municipal Library, the visually impaired readers can have free access to smart listening machines. The first reading duration will be 90 days. If you need to resume using it after the expiration, you can apply for renewal by telephone or by going to the library one month before expiration date.

　　It is known that 500 smart listening machines have provided for blind via the "Digital Reading Promotion Project for the Blind" in Yichang. People with visual impairment who hold the Second Generation Disabled Person's Card of the People's Republic of China can rent and use smart listening machines in the loving reading room on the first floor of the municipal library, giving priority to the blind readers who are in urgent need of cultural education.(Reporter Yang Chunyan; Correspondent HuangXiao)
