March 8th is the 109th International Women's Day and the 96th Women's Day in China. The vast number of women can enjoy this “exclusive half-day holiday".
However, besides the half-day holiday, what other exclusive rights do female friends have? Nowadays, reporters have learned more about this after visiting some departments such as Yichang Women's Federation and Municipal Health Committee
Cancellation of marriage and childcare thresholds gives rise to more fairness in women’s employment
Since February this year, Yichang has held several job fairs. The reporter found through interviews that the relatively common requirements of marriage and childbirth thresholds have disappeared, which makes many female job hunters very happy.
On February 21th this year, nine departments, such as the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Education, jointly issued a notice requiring that women should not be asked about marital or childbearing status during recruitment. "This will help improve women's competitiveness in employment market." Chen Juan, head of the Municipal Women's Federation's Rights and Interests Department said to the reporters.
In addition to not asking about women's marital or childbearing status, the Law on the Protection of Women's Rights and Interests also clearly stipulates that women enjoy equal rights to work and social security with men; when employing employees in various units, they shall not refuse to employ women or raise the employment standards for women on the grounds of gender, except for special position.
One hour of lactation per day is guaranteed
"Breast-feeding time is a special care for women in their lactation period. The employer should arrange one hour of lactation for them during the working time of each day." Chen Juan told reporters that women workers in pregnancy, childbirth and lactation period need special care. Therefore, our country has promulgated special laws and regulations to make it clear that women can enjoy special treatment in these periods.
In addition to breastfeeding time, women also have legal maternity leave. Taking Yichang for example, women who have given birth to babies, in accordance with laws and regulations, can enjoy at least 128 days of maternity leave. There is no conflict with annual leave.
In addition, the law also clearly stipulates that no unit may fire female workers or unilaterally terminate labor contracts on the grounds of pregnancy, maternity leave, breastfeeding, etc. The unit shall not extend working hours or arrange night shift for female workers who are pregnant for more than 7 months or have infants under the age of 1.
Warm maternal and infant rooms and special health fees are available
By the end of 2018, reporters learned from the Municipal Health Committee that, there are 208 maternity and infant rooms in the city, including those in secondary and above comprehensive medical institutions, maternity and obstetrics hospitals, 4A and above tourist attractions, county and above road transport center passenger stations, passenger terminals, which have been equipped with maternal and infant facilities. It is expected that by the end of this year, all public places and units should be equipped with maternal and infant rooms of standardized facilities.
In addition to warm maternal and infant rooms, the monthly health fee also makes many female workers feel warmer. Provisions on Labor Protection of Female Workers in Hubei Province clearly require that working female employees can enjoy 20 yuan of health fee per month.
