Yichang Customs Reducing the Postal Tax
2019-04-25 09:31:26

On April 10, the reporter was informed that according to the notice of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council, Yichang Customs lowered the postal tax on April 9. This is another downward adjustment since the postal tax reduction on November 1 last year.

The postal tax is the import duty imposed by the customs on the inbound passenger’s baggage and postal items, including customs duties, value-added tax and consumption tax on the import link.

The focus was on consumer goods, among which food, beverages, medicines, computers, etc. were classified as Tax Item1, and the tax rate was reduced from 15% to 13%, a drop of 13%; sports goods; textiles and their manufactured goods, television cameras and other electrical appliances were classified as Tax Item 2, and the tax rate has dropped from 25% to 20%, a drop of 20%.

After the tax reduction, it is cheaper to have overseas shopping. For example, a satchel of 8000 yuan should be taxed at the original tax rate of 25%, so people should pay 2000 yuan, while the new tax rate is 20% and only 1600 yuan is taxed, which is 400 yuan less than that before the adjustment .

In recent years, people's consumption demands have maintained a rapid growth in high-quality goods and services in the fields of healthy diet, medical rehabilitation and so on, and direct mail and overseas shopping are no longer new. According to the relevant person in charge of Yichang Customs, the reduction of postage tax will better meet the needs of consumers to a greater extent, and the import of goods in related fields will be expanded.

At the same time, Yichang Customs reminds inbound and outbound passengers not to carry prohibited items. If you need to deal with procedures for customs taxation, please declare your own initiative and consciously abide by the legal provisions of China and the destination country.
