On April 15, good news from Zhijiang Water Conservancy and Lakes Bureau said that Golden Lake was entitled “Beautiful Lake in Yangtze River Economic Belt”. It is one of the two lakes in Hubei Province that have won this honor, the other being East Lake in Wuhan City.

　　Zhijiang City, taking the river and lake supervision system as the starting point, has made a comprehensive plan for the Golden Lake and spent huge sums of money to carry out the work of fishing banning, intercepting and controlling pollution, and restoring its ecology. Today, the lake has become a “back garden” for citizens to rest and play. On February 17, six Aythya baeris, the world extremely endangered birds, showed up in Golden Lake. From 2017 to 2018, the 9th Encircling China International Highway Cycling Race was held here, and the Golden Lake track is praised as “the most beautiful track in China Cycling League”.

　　The selection of Beautiful Lake is an activity in the national leading labor and skill competition themed “Promoting Green Development and Building a Beautiful Yangtze River” jointly sponsored both by the Ministry of Water Resources and the China Agriculture, Forestry, Water Resources and Meteorology Union. Among the competition, an item in building the most beautiful river and lake has received positive responses from provinces and cities along the river, which has strongly driven its ecological restoration.
