On April 16, the reporter learned from Yichang Customs that the “Notice on Further Standardizing the Supervision and Quarantine of Pets Brought into the Country ”, issued by the General Administration of Customs it to take effect on May 1. According to the notice, pet dogs and cats can enter the country directly after passing on-site quarantine and are exempted from isolation quarantine. Each passenger can only bring one pet at a time.
In the past, only working dogs such as guide dogs and search and rescue dogs were exempted from isolation quarantine. After the implementation of the new regulation, three types of pets are exempted from isolation quarantine: pets from 19 designated countries or regions such as New Zealand, Australia and Fiji; pets from non-designated countries or regions which are with effective electronic chip, whose carriers can provide the rabies antibody test report (the antibody titer or the immune antibody dose must be above 0.5IU/ml) issued by credit testing laboratories and which pass the on-site quarantine; guide dogs, hearing dogs or search and rescue dogs with effective electronic chips, whose carriers can provide corresponding user certificate and professional training certificate and which pass the quarantine on the spot.
Pets that do not belong to the above mentioned three categories need to enter the country from the nine ports with quarantine facilities, such as Beijing Capital Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and undergo 30 days of isolation quarantine.
Yichang Customs reminds passengers that electronic chips, quarantine certificates, vaccination certificates and rabies antibody test reports required for the entry of pets should be handled well in advance, and pets which do not meet the relevant quarantine requirements will be sent back within a time limit in accordance with relevant regulations.
