On April 23, 2019 National Reading Month of Yichang, themed “Read the Praises of Homeland and Cover Yichang with Fragrance of Books”, was launched at Yiling Square. Wang Guobin, municipal standing committee member and head of publicity department, attended the ceremony and declared open of the reading month.

　　At the ceremony, My Motherland and Iwassung loudly. 14 pilot new-era civilized practice stations and communities of moral education, such as Miaogang Village in Wuyanquan Town of Yidu, Wuguibei Community in Xiling District, were awarded books. Certificates were granted to 100 “Literary Families” and their representative launched a reading initiative to the whole city. At the same time, a series of publicity campaigns were also held, such as “4·26—the World Intellectual Property Day” copyright laws and regulations publicity and “Anti-pornography·Green Bookmark 2019”.

　　In recent years, Yichang CPC Municipal Committee and the municipal government have increased their investments in every respect to meet the need of public reading. The residents’ reading index has been ranking the top among cities at the same level in the province for five successive years. Xiling district, Yidu city and 4 other counties and cities have won the provincial reputation of “Region of Books”, making the whole city permeated with a salient reading atmosphere.
