On April 26, the construction of the shore power experimental zone of the Three Gorges Dam area and the promotion of the full coverage construction of the shore power supply along the Yangtze River were held in Yichang. The National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transport, the National Energy Administration, the State Grid Corporation of China, the China Southern Power Grid Company, and the heads of relevant departments of the 11 provinces and cities along the Yangtze River jointly launched the construction work of the full coverage of the shore power of the Yangtze River Basin.

　　In June last year, in order to fully implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping in the Symposium on Deeply Promoting the Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, accelerate the application of the shore power construction in the Yangtze River Basin, the State Grid Corporation, working with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Energy Administration, the People's Government of Hubei Province and the Three Gorges Group, have established a cooperative working mechanism of government-enterprise cooperation, focusing on the construction of the shore power experimental zone in the Three Gorges Dam area.

　　After nearly a year of exploration and practice, the project team has overcome many worldwide technical problems and launched six typical shore power systems, which can basically meet the needs of various port terminals and ship shore power technologies in the rivers across the country; it has also built a shore power cloud network of cross-provincial and cross-basin shore power service platforms in China, established the first shore power operation service company in the Yangtze River Basin, and formed five industry standards, fourteen enterprise standards, laying a foundation for comprehensively promoting the standardization construction of shore power in the Yangtze River Basin.

　　At present, the first “Shore Power System of Scanning a QR Code” along the Yangtze River has been completed and opened in the Three Gorges Tourist Center of Yichang, and our demonstration projects such as the Zigui Port and Shawan Integrated Ecological Service Center have been completed and operated. Besides, the anchorage of the Three Gorges reservoir area can provide shore power for 80 ships at 1000-ton level waiting for locks at the same time, and all of the 64 operational terminals in Yichang have shore power supply capacity. It is expected to realize the full coverage of the shore power of the Three Gorges Dam area during the year. By then, it will have reduced fuel consumption by more than 5,800 tons per year and reduced gas emissions by 18,000 tons.

　　It is informed that the provinces and cities along the Yangtze River will learn from the construction experience of the shore power experimental zone in the Three Gorges Dam area, and cooperate with the whole basin to accelerate the construction of the full coverage of the shore power along the Yangtze River, and achieve basic shore power coverage in the main ports along the Yangtze River by the end of 2020.
