The slow net speed in watching videos, playing games and even surfing the Internet will no longer happen in the future. On May 27, the press conference entitled “5G for Industrial Internet Development”& Yichang 5G was held, signaling the coming of 5G Era in Yichang.

　　By the end of 2018, the city had built 7,759 communications towers and 25,200 mobile communications base stations, including 19,600 3G and 4G base stations. Its total bandwidth of internet output is 1800G, with 1.2128 million fixed broadband users, among which 358,800 are rural users. A full coverage of free WiFi has been basically realized in major public places in the urban areas and those counties and cities. And narrow-band IOT has fully covered the main regions of the urban areas and the counties.

　　In April this year, Yichang Unicom took the lead in opening its 5G test stations to realize 5Gcoverage around the International Trade business zone and the Long-distance Bus Station. At present, there are in the city 4 5G test base stations, through which its citizens can experience high-speed downloading, VR and the like. It is estimated that by the end of the year, the number of 5G base stations in the city will reach 862, mainly covering the airport, high-speed railway stations and core business areas. The city strives to build 5,500 such stations by the end of 2021.

　　“We will build a 5G quality network in the Yangtze River Basin in 3 to 5 years, with an intelligent river chief as the carrier to promote the ‘Yangtze River Protection’campaign.”The director of Yichang Unicom said that the company will also implement intelligent medical treatment through 5G to smooth the thorough connection between medical equipment, so that patient information can arrive before the person, and preparations can be made in advance for the operation, and the rescue can be optimized. It will also build intelligent tourism, intelligent education and so on, so that citizens can benefit from the changes in life brought about by 5G.

　　At the press conference, Yichang Unicom signed 5G strategic cooperation agreements with 5 units and enterprises. In addition, there is an exhibitionof the latest intelligent terminals, 5G technology and its applications, as well as the latest high-tech products such as intelligent driving and intelligent firefighting.
