May 31st is the 32nd World No Tobacco Day. At 9:00 on May 31st, “Deepening the Construction of National Health City and Promoting the Implementation of Tobacco Control” and the World No Tobacco Day Square Publicity Campaign were held in Wuyi Square in the urban area. The Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention released the “Report on the Status of Smoking in Public Places in Yichang City in 2019”.(hereinafter referred to as the "Report").
The "Report"is an objective description of the current situation of tobacco control in our city based on the research of 94 public places in 8 categories of urban areas carried by the city's health education department. The report shows that in 2019, the smoking ban in public places in urban areas of Yichang has improved compared with 2018. The gap from the establishment of comprehensive smoke-free public places is gradually narrowing, but there are also certain problems.
The results show that in 2019, the proportion of public places with smokeless in urban areas was 85.10%, the proportion of places with tobacco control system was 55.32%, and the proportion of places with smoking bans at entrance was 76.60%. The proportion of places with smoke elimination was 67.02%, the proportion of places with no smoking signs was 89.36%, the proportion of places where workers advice not to smoke was 54.26%, and the proportion of places with outdoor smoking areas was 35.11%.
