Garbage bags are loaded with "E-eyes" to supervise the whole process of collection and transportation of kitchen waste in residents' homes. After microbial fermentation at the treatment station, it has been transformed into biological fertilizer. On June 5, the domestic waste resource disposal station of Yichang High-tech Zone is officially put into production. It can turn 700 tons of kitchen waste into 70 tons of biological organic fertilizer every year.
In order to solve the problem of classification and treatment of kitchen waste, Yichang High-tech Zone has established a set of intelligent cloud platform. Garbage bags with a QR code on each are sent to residents for free so that the garbage classification can be traced. WeChat messages will remind people if they dispose the waste at their will. Through the Internet technology, the garbage can be sensed in real time and the efficiency of classified collection can be improved.
The person in charge of the high-tech zone said that the kitchen waste disposal system can "eat" 2 tons of kitchen waste every day and turn it into 200 kilograms of biological fertilizer, with 90% waste reduction rate and 10% resource utilization rate. In the future, it will also be replicated and extended to more residential areas, food markets, large-scale agricultural trade and vegetable wholesale markets to achieve domestic waste reduction and harmless resource utilization.
At present, the garbage classification system is being promoted nationwide. Yichang is one of the 46 national pilot demonstration cities of domestic waste classification and it’s also the first in Hubei province. Last year, 50 demonstration communities of domestic waste classification were built, and three "fully covered" (responsibility covered, classification covered and process covered) garbage classification demonstration areas were built in Yiling District, Xiling District, Wu Jiagang District and High-tech Zone. Yichang will realize 80% coverage of solid waste classification in urban areas and 100% coverage of enforced garbage classification in public institutions and related enterprises by 2020.
