Kitchen Waste Turned into Flower Fertilizer to be Sent to Public
2019-06-25 16:54:50

"This is bio-organic fertilizer, which is produced through microbial fermentation of kitchen waste. You can use it to grow flowers and vegetables." On the morning of June 12, the staff of the Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau of the High-tech Zone sent 100 kilograms of bio-organic fertilizer to the public in Sendi Square.

It is known that the 100 kg vegetable and gardening fertilizer is made from the kitchen waste collected by the Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau of the High-tech Zone after garbage classification. The collected kitchen waste was transported to the Zhoujiachong Garbage Transfer Station for sorting, crushing, heating and stirring, and then was decomposed by using special microbial agents under certain conditions. Every two tons of kitchen waste can be converted into 0.2 ton of organic fertilizer, which has no odor and has good quality.

Relevant officials of the bureau said that the bio-organic fertilizer given to the public enables the public to see the results of garbage classification. They also hoped that through this sharing of fertilizer, the enthusiasm of citizens to participate in garbage classification can be enhanced and the accuracy of source classification can be constantly consolidated and improved.

The high-tech zone will build nine domestic waste classification demonstration communities and one garbage classification demonstration area this year. At present, with kitchen waste resource treatment equipment, two tons of kitchen waste can be treated every day, and the fertilizer produced will be used for urban landscape greening.
