On June 21st, reporters learned from Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau that our city will continue to carry on the measures of “seepage, storage, clean, use, emission”, take the construction of municipal project, park green land, district development, shantytown renovation as breakthroughs, promote the construction of sponge cities according to local conditions, to build sponge city with 2.9 square kilometers during the year.

　　“Sponge city” refers to the combination of artificial and natural, ecological and engineering measures, above-ground and underground, so that 70% of can be absorbed and utilized locally, solving urban water logging, dirty and smelly water, adjusting climate and improve the concept of water ecology. The construction of sponge city is of great significance to improve the quality of human settlements and promote the green and high-quality development of Yichang city construction.

　　In recent years, the city has established a leading group and accelerated the construction of a pilot city for sponge cities, integrated the concept of it into various fields of urban planning and construction, and compiled the “Implementation Plan for Pioneer City Construction of Yichang City” and “Special Project for Sponge City in Yichang City”, to introduce the its construction procedures, technical standards, management provisional regulations, performance appraisal methods, in the public construction projects, especially the planning, design, completion and acceptance stage of the garden project, the sponge city concept as part of the inspection and acceptance, promote the concept of sponge city is implemented.(Reporter:Yuan Man; Correspondent:Song Chengzi; Cao Jinlu)
