2019-07-04 17:11:03

Six Chinese ministries, including the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, recently released the fifth List of Chinese Traditional Villages. A total of 2,666 villages have entered the list, among which 88 are from Hubei province, including 7 from Yichang.

It’s reported that the 7 villages listed are as follows: Pangjiawan of Longfeng Village in Hualin Temple Town, Yuan’an County, Jiulong Village in Maopingchang Town; Qing Hua Village in Zhaojun Town, Xingshan County, Xiang Xi Village in Guizhou Town, Zigui County, Longchi Village in Yuxiakou Town, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County, Nanmuqiao Village in Caihua Town, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County and Cihua Village in Baling Street, Dangyang City. Of these villages, the earliest was set up prior to Yuan Dynasty.

Traditional villages refer to those that own richer traditional resources and higher values in history, culture, science, art, society and economy, with earlier formation and relatively complete structure. The eligibility for the fifth List of Chinese Traditional Villages includes profound historical and cultural accumulation, complete preservation of the texture of site selection pattern, protection value of traditional buildings, and good inheritance of intangible cultural heritage as well as good foundation for village live protection.
