Unlicensed Over-standard Electric Vehicles to Be Fined from August 1
2019-07-24 16:52:30

Warning for citizens who have not got a license for their over-standard electric vehicles: the deadline for licensing such vehicles in the city is 31st of this month, take action as soon as possible. From August 1 on, those who drive an electric vehicle without a license plate will be warned or fined 50 yuan according to Article 24 of the Regulations on the Administration of Electric Bicycles in Yichang City. However, such vehicles with temporary license plates can be used until the transitional period expires on April 30, 2022.

According to the regulations, from May 1, 2019, electric vehicles can be driven only if licensed. To help citizens to get license plates quickly, Yichang Police have set up more than 140 license plate dealing points in major jurisdictions. In addition, the public can also make an appointment online (through WeChat Public Number PingAn Yichang) for fast processing.

A relevant person in charge of the Traffic Police Detachment of the Municipal Public Security Bureau said that it’s free of charge for the licensing of electric vehicles. The owner of the vehicle only needs to provide the original valid identity card, purchase invoice and vehicle qualification certificate, and can receive the license plate and driving license on the spot after submitting the vehicle for examination.

If the owner is unable to apply for the license plate at the registration point personally for some reason, he can make an online reservation first and ask another person to obtain the license plate and driving license for him by taking his or her ID card, the original owner’s ID card, the letter of attorney and relevant materials to the registration point.

Attention: For electric bicycles purchased after May 1 that do not meet the national standards, the Traffic Control Department will not issue temporary license plates. Owners can claim refund, or ask for a change or compensation from the sellers in accordance with the regulations. (Reporter: Pei ShuJing; Correspondent: Zhu Huagang)
