Nearly 3 million tons of Transshipment Cargo Transported by Multimodal Transport in Yichang in the first half of 2019
2019-07-29 10:44:16

On July 16, the reporter learned from the Municipal Logistics Industry Development Center that in the first half of 2019, 2.98 million tons of goods upstream and downstream of the Three Gorges Dam were transported by the means of multimodal transport and transshipment, of which 186,000 tons were transported by 7,425 containers, 94,200 tons were transported by 4,7100 commodity vehicles, 20,000 tons were transported by 90,000 Ro-Ro trucks crossing the dam.

Promoting the development of multimodal transport in Yichang with high quality and the construction of national logistics hub are important measures to break the bottleneck of logistics in the Yangtze River. In recent years, Yichang Communications Investment Group Co.,LTD, guided by Yichang City, has taken the Three Gorges Dam as the node, Maoping Port upstream the dam and Baiyang Port downstream the dam as the core hubs, achieved efficient inter-modal transport, and carried out large diversion by railways after attracting goods on shore or small transshipment in crossing the dam by dredging port roads, thus forming a "large diversion and small transshipment" multimodal transport pattern.

At present, Yichang has realized four modes of inter modal transportation of sea road-river road-railway, sea road-river road-highway, waterway-highway-waterway,Waterway - waterway (transfer), and has created special brands such as “Crossing the Dam by Rolling Transport of Commercial Vehicle” and “Grain from the North Transported to South and West”.

It is reported that with the local support policies of Yichang multimodal transport, it is expected that the transport of crossing the Three Gorges Dam will explode in the second half of 2019, among which, the total container rail-water combined transportation will exceed 5,000 cases, the volume of containers by waterway-highway-waterway will reach 35,000 cases, and the number of containers by commodity vehicles transshipment will reach 120,000 cases.
