The greening projects of the section from Baisha Road of Riverside Park to Bailinhe River estuary, and of West Plaza parking lot of Yichang East Station are under construction. The vertical greening project of the section from Xiazhou Avenue of Xiling Road Two to Dongshan Avenue Viaduct is about to start. Of all the first 15 demonstration projects of Yichang Garden City construction, 12 have been completed and the other three are expected to be accomplished within a year. The reporter got the news from the Management Center of Yichang City Garden Greening Construction on August 6.

　　According to the unified deployment of Yichang Municipal Committee and Yichang Municipal People’s Government, the 12th Standing Committee Meeting of the Sixth CPPCC adopted the Proposal for Yichang to Build a Garden City in January this year, proposing to turn Yichang into a "Garden City" surrounded by mountains and rivers, blended with trees and flowers.

　　"Yichang Garden City Construction Plan" was issued later, which was in accordance with the characteristics of Yichang's mountain, water and city. Subjected to the requirements of making Yichang City more beautiful and environment-friendly", it made a comprehensive plan for the important landscape areas in the whole city including airport, railway station, high-speed interchange, urban expressway, life-style road and park green space, and created a garden city construction route combining point, line, surface and belt of greening in Yichang central city, so that the citizens could enjoy distinctive sceneries all year round.

　　Yichang City has made smooth progress in promoting the projects in stages and different regions, aiming to make part of the city as a model in terms of garden city within one year, achieve positive progress in this regard within two years and build Yichang into a real garden city within three years". It was reported that there were 15 projects in the first batch of garden city construction projects in our city from 2018 to 2019, with a total area of 127.92 hectares and a construction investment of 62.56 million yuan. At present, 12 projects of them have been completed, two are under construction, and one is about to start and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Major parks also boasted different characteristics, evidenced by the tulip in Xiaoxita Forest Park, magnolia wufengensis in Yiling Square, hydrangea in Riverside Park, climbing rose in Children's Park, callistemon rigidus R. Br. in Scindapsus Aureus Botanical Garden, Victoria regia Lindl. in Canal Park, hollyhock in Moji Mountain Park, wildflower combination in Chengdong Park, orychophragmus violaceus in Canal Corridor and peony in Three Gorges Botanic Garden.

　　In addition, the Management Center of Yichang City Garden Greening Construction has also stimulated the enthusiasm of ordinary citizens to participate in the construction and promoted co-construction and sharing through explaining the habits of common flowers grown at home and daily flower-raising skills to community residents, giving them flowers and seeds, holding micro-flower exhibitions and other activities.
