On August 7, with the arrival and berthing of two 3000-ton bulk carriers, the Comprehensive Wharf of Honghuatao Operating Area in Yidu Port was put into trial operation.
The Comprehensive Wharf is a key project of the multi-modal transport system of the Three Gorges Project, which is invested and constructed by Hubei Provincial Communications Investment Group Co., Ltd. and is also one of the key transportation infrastructure projects of Hubei Province and Yichang City. With a total investment of 480 million yuan, the port has four berths, including one multi-purpose berth for 3000 tonnage cargo ships, two grocery berths for 3000 tonnage cargo ships, one roll-on berth for 800 tonnage roll-on ships. And it has an annual design throughput of 1.61 million tons (96,000 standard containers) and 150,000 commercial vehicles. In addition, the rear land area has warehouse, bulk containers and merchandise truck yard of nearly 44,000 square meters. The supporting hardware facilities and operation system of Operating Area are complete, which can meet the needs of various customers' individualized integrated logistics services.
According to reports, relying on its prominent traffic location advantages, the port will be an important node for the public water intermodal transport of the Yangtze River Gold Waterway, effectively connecting the regions of Sichuan, Chongqing, western Hubei and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It will be of great significance for strengthening the comprehensive traffic hub status of Yichang region, improving the cargo carrying capacity of the Three Gorges Dam and serving the Yangtze River Gold Waterway.
