On September 4th, 70 Years Thriving and·Striving in New Year--Changes,the column of CCTV News highlighted the transformation and upgrading of Yichang chemical industry with the title of The Changes in Optical Fiber, River Bank and New Ways of Development in Hubei Province.

　　In 2018, general secretary Xi Jinping went on a tour of inspection of Yangtze River and Hubei province. He came to Yichang first. When he was there he emphasized that we must insist on putting restoring the ecological environment of the Yangtze River at a dominant position to promote the development of the economic belt, making all-out efforts to protect it , and forbidding large-scale development of the river. In other words, we need to adhere to the ecological priority and green development, instead of destructive development.

　　It has been reported that the chemical industry was the pillar industry of Yichang. In order to solve the problem of chemical industry around the river, Hubei Xingfa Chemical Group, the largest local chemical industry was driven to remove from the river, and take some measures to change factory area into green space and park, such as planting trees, thus creating a tidy and green environment for citizens. According to the Xingfa Group chairman Li Guozhang, the amount of money for pollution control was 1.07 billion yuan, but it added to 200 million yuan for sewage treatment , 113 million yuan for atmospheric controlling after the inspection of President Xi Jinping.

　　According to the plan, by 2020, 134 chemical industries within 1 kilometer along the river will be shut down , reformed, relocated and transferred, to develop emerging high-tech industries such as microelectronics and new materials.(Reporter:Yang Jing;)
